Michelle Wright: The hiking gas prices this year is a good thing for some businesses, like the ones along New Jersey shore, which are seeing a huge increase in visitors this weekend.

Gary Baumgarten: "It's the best Memorial weekend weather in recent history", say the long time merchants. And state officials say the high gasoline prices mean shorter trips to the shore for people from New Jersey, New York, and like this woman, Pennsylvania.

Everybody from Pennsylvania goes to the Jersey shore; if you are from Delaware, you go to the beach.

Gary Baumgarten: Patrice Leonard of the Evendale, Pennsylvania says her plan is to wear her two preschool-age children out on the kids' rides. The kids, however, seem bent on wearing out mom, instead. Gary Baumgarten, CNN, seaside park, New Jersey.

Michelle Wright: According to the AAA there will be a slight increase in the number of people going on vacations this summer despite those gas prices. Pauline Frommer with Frommer's Budget Travel says national parks are parks that teach about the nation's history, like colonial Williamsburg Gara Gebeth.

Pauline Frommer: It's very comfortable. The hotels are lovely and they present history in a really sophisticated manner, Warts and all. They talk about slavery and the fact that many of the founding fathers were slave owners. They go into the various disagreements that shaped our country. It's a fascinating look at history.

Michelle Wright: Frommer also says an annual pass to a theme park may save you money if you’ll be going there a lot this summer.

Michelle Wright: And the X-Men were the only one standing atop the box-office heap this holiday weekend. Reports CNN's Matt Cherry.

I want to help you.

Help me. What’s wrong with me?

Matt Cherry: X-Men "The last stand" needed no help at the box-office this holiday weekend. It ends up raking in more than 120 million bucks. The best Memorial Day weekend debut ever. X-Men also had the best Friday in movie history, taking in 45 million on that day, alone. It was a good weekend for theatres in general. Last week's box-office champ - "The Da Vinci Code" grossed 43 million dollars, and the animated "Over the Hedge" earned 35 million, Matt Cherry, CNN.

Michelle Wright: With CNN radio in the MarketPlace, I’m Michelle Wright.
