I am Sandy C with an AP Hurricane Update.

President Bush returned to the ravaged Gulf Coast for the second time in four days Monday in the wake of criticism that the government’s response to Hurricane Katrina was too slow.

The military is continuing rescue missions and distributing supplies to the hurricane victims, trying to pick up the remnants of their lives and move forward. President Bush's father, along with former President Bill Clinton, announced plans for a Katrina fund to help hurricane victims recover.

"Conferred with the three Governors of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and decided to establish the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. We will turn this money over to the governors who will then decide how best to use it."

"We need to have a fund where we can fill in the blanks and help people who are otherwise going to be totally overlooked."
