   Two adventurers hoping to make the first round-the-world trip using a solar-powered plane have successfully landed in Oman after launching the maiden leg of their global voyage.

  The two Swiss pilots have arrived in Oman after taking off yesterday from Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
  Monaco's Prince Albert joined officials at mission control in Monaco to congratulate the two pilots for their initial success.
  "Congratulations, it was a super landing, we saw superb images, and, honestly, congratulations for this magnificent first flight."
  Solar Impulse 2 took off from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates early on Monday to the start the five-month journey.

  The plane itself has the weight of an average car, but has a wingspan as wide as the world's largest passenger airliners.
  Made from of a lightweight carbon-fiber frame, the plane doesn't produce any carbon emissions, as it’s powered entirely through the 17-thousand solar cells embedded in its wings.
  Its global journey will span about 25 flight days broken up into 12 different legs.
  The flight will make stopovers in India, Myanmar and here in China before crossing the Pacific and flying across the United States and southern Europe before arriving back in Abu Dhabi.
