Police say a prisoner who overpowered a guard and escaped custody at a Virginia hospital was captured in D.C. hours later. The prisoner was being held on a federal bank robbery charge. He had been taken to the hospital after attempting suicide last week. Iraqi forces have taken back a number of areas around Tikrit from Islamic Military militant control. Officials say they had retaken a hospital in southern Tikrit
as well as government offices.
Indiana governor Mike Pence says he wants legislation on his desk by the end of the week to clarify that a new religious freedom law does not allow disrimination.
Pence says Indiana has "a perception problem over the law," but still defends its purpose.
