Heavy rains have hit Shanghai as well, with some parts of the city being inundated on Wednesday. Authorities are trying to drain the street of the water ahead of the evening traffic peak. 

The overnight torrential rain has been working around the clock to ease the situation before the traffic peak. Our Shanghai reporter Shi Wenjing has more.
