New tests of the water around the Olympic waterways in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil show that contamination stretches out further than was previously known. The AP is having the water tested ahead of next year's Olympics.
Members of NATO meeting in Belgium formally invited the tiny nation of Montenegro to join. Russia doesn't want that country to join NATO.
Police in Alaska's capital, Juneau, don't know if the city's mayor died of natural causes or foul play. Mayor Greg Fisk was found dead in his home. Police have tentatively ruled out gunshots, drugs, and suicide.
And forecasters say the heavy snow that fell in the Dakots is bringing welcome relief to the region. Large parts of North and South Dakota are unusually dry.
