 Washington governor Jay Inslee says he's ordered immediate steps to correct a computer glitch that allowed several thousand prisoners to be released early. Computers were miscalculating sentences for some inmates, letting about 3 percent of the prison population out early dating back to 2002.

 
Iraqi government troops made what's being called their most significant incursion into Ramadi since Islamic State militants captured the city in May. One US military spokesman is predicting a tough fight for the city west of Baghdad.
 
And a New Zealand judge ruled that internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom and 3 of his colleagues can be extradited to the US. He's facing criminal copyright charges connected to his former file sharing site Megaupload.
 
And a fireball lit up the sky over several western states. US military officials say it was debris from a Russian rocket launched on Monday reentering the atmosphere.
