接招：“Start the ball rolling”的英文解释为“make a beginning of something or begin an activity or a conversation”。中文意思就是“开个头”（特别指在会议上可是谈话），开始一个活动。用之来表示这个意思也是很形象的，从字面意思来看，它的意思是“让球滚动起来”，这就很形象地引申为“开个头”的意思。用之表示“通过什么方式开个头”“以什么事件开个头”，我们则在“rolling”这个单词的后面加上表方式的介词“by”，即：start the ball rolling by something (or by doing something )。我们还可以用动词get和set来替换片语中的动词start，即：get the ball rolling，set the ball rolling。
