CCTV9英语新闻:Gaokao cheaters to face imprisonment(在线收听

Just a few hours to go before the biggest day of the year for some 9.4 million Chinese students. On Tuesday, China's national college entrance examination for high school seniors will begin. And this year, the stakes are higher than ever, especially for those who intend to cheat their way to success.

For the first time, students found guilty of cheating will face a criminal penalty of up to seven years imprisonment. Meanwhile, test centers across the country have made final preparations, including installing high-tech devices that can detect those who use wireless and radio signals to cheat.

And many local governments including the city of Kunming in Yunnan province have issued ordinances requiring construction sites and entertainment venues such as karaoke bars to limit their operating hours to ensure a quiet environment for the students.
