福特通用情况不妙(在线收听

Things look bad for two of America's big three automakers, and only a little better for the third. Ford Motor Company reported a $5.8 billion loss for the third quarter of this year, their worst quarterly loss in fourteen years. Analysts expect their fourth quarter to be even worse. A large inventory of unsold autos gave Chrysler a $1.5 billion loss, so they plan a big cost-cutting program and faster development of fuel-efficient vehicles. A $115 million loss for General Motors was seen as good news; not counting the $644 million spent on "special charges" such as the selling of their GMAC finance arm and the reorganization of their former parts division Delphi, GM actually made a $529 million profit.
