This is AP news minute. 

1. Even if Donald Trump looks for warmer relations with Russia, two of his key nominees are sounding alarms. Defense secretary nominee James Mattis told senators that Russian president Vladimir Putin is trying to break the NATO alliance. Trump's nominee to head the CIA, congressman Mike Pompeo is criticizing Russia's invasion into Ukraine, in what he says "is Its failure to help defeat the Islamic State group". 

2. The justice department's inspector general will launch an investigation into the department and FBI's action in the month leading to the 2016 Election. The probe will include whether the department policies were probably followed by FBI Director James Comey. Democrats list Comey's actions as among the reasons for her loss. 

3. Six children are presumed dead after a fire tore through a Baltimore home. One body has been found at the home and 6 children from the family who are missing after the fire are presumed dead. 

4. The San Diego Charges are moving to Los Angeles. They will join the recently relocated Rams in giving the nation's second largest media market two NFL teams, for the first time in decades. The San Diego voters resoundingly rejected the team-sponsored measure, asking for more than $1 billion in increased hotel taxes, to help fund the downtown stadium and convention center.
