近日，美国总统唐纳德·特朗普称北约“不再过时”，一改之前警告同盟的立场。

　　Hosting Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House, Mr Trump said the threat of terrorism had underlined the alliance's importance.

　　特朗普在白宫招待北约秘书长延斯·斯托尔滕贝格时表示，恐怖主义的威胁凸显了联盟的重要性。

　　He called on Nato to do more to help Iraqi and Afghan "partners".

　　他号召北约做更多的努力，以此来帮助“伙伴”伊拉克和阿富汗。

　　The Nato U-turn wasn't Mr Trump's only change of heart. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said he would not label China a currency manipulator, despite having repeatedly pledged to do so on his first day in office.

　　特朗普对北约一百八十度大转弯并不是他唯一一次改变看法。在《华尔街日报》的一次访谈之中，他称他不会将中国定义为“货币操纵者”。但他在入住白宫的第一天，就不断承诺会指出中国为“货币操纵者”。

　　At a joint press conference with Mr Stoltenberg, Mr Trump said: "The secretary general and I had a productive discussion about what more Nato can do in the fight against terrorism."

　　在和斯托尔滕贝格的联合新闻发布会上，特朗普表示：“我和秘书长就有关北约对抗恐怖主义还能做什么的问题，进行了富有成果的讨论。”

　　"I complained about that a long time ago and they made a change, and now they do fight terrorism. I said Nato was obsolete. It's no longer obsolete."

　　“我抱怨了很久，他们终于做出了改变，现在他们确实在对抗恐怖主义。我曾经说北约过时了，但其实它不再过时了。”

　　But Mr Trump reiterated his call for Nato member states to contribute more funding to the alliance.

　　不过，特朗普同时重申他对北约成员的呼吁，要求他们对联盟贡献更多的资金。

　　"If other countries pay their fair share instead of relying on the United States to make up the difference we will all be much more secure", said the US president.

　　这位美国总统称：“如果其他的国家支付他们的合理份额，而不是依赖于美国弥补差额，我们会比现在安全许多。”
