President Donald Trump left the White House early Friday afternoon for the flight to Saudi Arabia in the start of his first international trip as president. He will also visit Israel, the Vatican and Belgium. He left without announcing his choice for FBI director.

On Capitol Hill, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein briefed members of the House of Representatives on the FBI investigation. He told members he agreed with the president's decision to fire James Comey, and he added that he stands by the memo he wrote on the issue.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says his legal team will contact UK officials to seek a way forward to resolving his status. Sweden has dropped the rape charges against Assange, and now he wants to discuss his case with the US Department of Justice.

And in Bangkok, a chunky monkey is on a diet after gorging on junk food from tourists in a local park. Nicknamed "Uncle Fat" by the locals, he's now eating lean protein, fruits and vegetables.
