2017年CRI Innovative technology benefits Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area(在线收听

Situated along the Haihe River, the Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area, more commonly known as the THT, is now home to many successful Hi-tech companies.

TDQS is a company providing smart grid solution.

Li Xiaoyu, vice General Manager, says they've been able to establish themselves as one of the leading employers in the THT.

"We have some 400 employees; among them many are researchers and developers. There are 280 of them, in fact. We focus on smart grids and distributed grid systems. Our smart grid consulting services cover all of China. We rank first in market share. We also lead the world in the smart micro-grid sector."

Not content with the status quo, TDQS still has plans to innovate.

Beyond smart grid solutions, the company is now developing its own Virtual and Augmented Reality software.

With smart ideas being applied to the company's operations, TDQS is looking to be a major player on the global market.

As the state-designated indigenous innovation area, as well as a "Future Science and Technology City," the Binhai high-tech area in Tianjin has more than a dozen successful corporate stories so far.

Keyvia Electric is an example. The company focuses on urban mass transit and rail power supply systems.

To expand itself, Keyvia has decided to align itself with the Chinese government's "Belt and Road" initiative, with one of its subsiduaries already breaking ground on a new project in Germany.

General Manager Zhao Qin says they've been able to crack the German market through the aquisition of a Germany firm.

"Frankly speaking, if we stuck to our regular development, without the Belt and Road initiative, our company wouldn't be able to make big moves. But now with China's Belt and Road initiative, we hope to move out further. We're not only focusing on the Chinese market, but are actively looking for markets elsewhere. So we launched a wholly owned subsidiary, Keyvia Germany, and then fully acquired Rail Power Systems, or RPS."

By doing so, Keyvia's services now cover both import and export, technical advisory services, as well as planning and design.

Based out of the Tianjin Binhai High-tech zone, these and many other companies are expected to become leaders in IT and high-end manufacturing in China.

Growth in the THT is expected to have doubled this past year.

The overall Tianjin Binhai New Area's economy is believed to have generated close to 150-billion U.S. dollars this past year, making it one of, if not the most productive of the country's 18 nationally-administered development zones.
