Eternal Wave, a Chinese movie set during the anti-Japanese occupation era is set to be released in Chinese theatres on Friday.

Eternal Wave or Mi Zhan(密战) as it is known in Chinese follows Lin Xiang, a secret agent working underground to reestablish a secret radio station that was used by the communists before it was destroyed during the Battle of Shanghai.

Hong Kong singer-actor Aaron Kwok plays Lin Xiang. He was in Beijing to attend the movie's premiere.

"Before playing Lin Xiang, I had never portrayed a real life person in my entire acting career. At the news that I was to play him, I began reading books that record how he sacrificed his life. It's a great honor to act such a great figure in history, despite the injuries I suffered while shooting the film."

Lin Xiang meets a simple yet patriotic young lady who becomes his partner as they infiltrate the enemy as a couple.

Actress Zhao Liying portrays Kwok's partner. Veteran Hong Kong actor Simon Yam acts as the main villain.

This is the second time this story has been adapted for the big screen. The first version of Eternal Wave was released back in 1958, when veteran actor Sun Daolin played the secret agent.
