2018年CRI UK Prime Minister sends best wishes for Chinese New Year(在线收听

In a video filmed during Theresa May's recent state visit to China, the Prime Minister sends her best wishes to all in the UK and in China.

Mrs May goes on to say that this is a time to celebrate and reflect on the year ahead. The Prime Minister says that it’s time to recognise the amazing contribution that everyone in the Chinese community in the United Kingdom makes to society.

“Wherever you are celebrating, enjoy the festivities, have a fantastic time, and I hope you have a very prosperous and peaceful year of the Dog. Happy New Year”.

Earlier this year the Prime Minister made her first state visit to China, which was described as “historic” by the Chinese government. At a time when UK-China trade is worth £59billion a year, and with the shadow of Brexit looming over the country, many in the UK think there will be an increase in trade with China, as trade with the EU could drop off. Speaking during her trip the Prime Minister said "We're seizing the opportunity to become an ever more outward looking global Britain, deepening our trade relations with nations around the world, including China".

During the Prime Minister’s visit trade deals worth £9.3billion were signed International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said: ”The agreements signed this week, valued at more than £9billion, demonstrate a clear demand for British goods and services.”
