| A US government official says a new video of Osama bin Laden makes no overt threats against the United States and could have been made this summer. The video includes references to current events in Iraq. That would bolster the video’s authenticity which intelligence officials still are trying to confirm. Friends and family say the mother of Madeleine McCann has been formally named as a suspect in the 4-year-old girl's disappearance. Kate McCann was questioned for a second day with Portuguese authorities offering a plea deal if she confesses. A squadron of ten planes and two helicopters continue searching for adventurer Steve Fossett. Crews are making repeated passes over a 10,000-square-mile area with high peaks and steep canyons. Fossett has been missing since Monday. Former Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong is in jail serving a 24-hour sentence for contempt of court. The prosecutor brought rape charges against three Duke lacrosse players. The charges were later dropped. |
