Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told the group of clerics he is seeking wartime executive powers. He says he's dealing with an economic war that the US triggered when it left the Iran nuclear deal.

House Democrats say they may vote to hold former White House Counsel Don McGahn in contempt. A lawyer says Mcgahn will follow President Trump's orders, and ignore a subpoena to testify before a committee on Tuesday.

President Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania, ahead of a special congressional election. It was his first visit to the electoral battleground state this year.

Numerous funnel clouds were spotted as an intense storm system moved across the southern plains. The storms did not produce the dangerous tornadoes that had forecasters worried.
