On 12 October 1988 two young policemen were ambushed in a suburban street in South Yarra in Melbourne. They'd stopped to investigate what looked like an abandoned stolen car parked in the middle of the road and when they did they were both shot dead. The Walsh Street killings have been the subject of news items, articles, features, books, a play, docos, scholarly studies, the movie Animal Kingdom and campaigns for justice -- and now a new book called A Pack of Bloody Animals: the Walsh Street murders revisited.
