Australia has won its first medal at the Rio olympics with the men's archery team claiming bronze. Taylor Worth, Alec Potts and Ryan Tyack kept their cool defeating China 6-2. Meanwhile in swimming the women's 4 by 100-metre relay team are through to the final, setting a new olympic record.

A 31-year-old man has been charged following yesterday's terror raids in Melbourne's west and central Victoria. He's been charged with one count of collecting or making documents likely to facilitate a terrorist act, and one count of acts done in preparation for, or planning, a terrorist act. The 31 year old is expected to face court later today.

A 16-year-old boy has died in hospital after being stabbed at a house party in Sydney's north-west. Officers say a fight involving several young people broke out at a property at Ryde around midnight. Seven people were taken hospital with stab wounds. A crime scene has been established but so far no arrests.

And in the NRL, the Melbourne Storm has leapfrogged Cronulla to the top of the National Rugby League table. The Storm snatched a golden point win against Souths winning 15-points to 14 in extra time.
