The prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has proposed a raft of laws to fight foreign espionage and interference. The government wants to create a new offence making it illegal to covertly interfere with Australian politics on behalf of another country. It also plans to create a register for foreign lobbyists, and to ban political donations from overseas.

A New South Wales man has been accused of trafficking a woman and child from Sydney to India. The 27-year-old man from Lidcombe in Sydney's west was charged by the Australian federal police for allegedly coercing his wife and two-month-old baby to leave the country.

A New South Wales coroner has delivered an open finding at an inquest into the death of 20-year-old Matthew Leveson. Mr leveson was last seen alive a decade ago — leaving a Sydney nightclub with his boyfriend Michael Atkins — who in May this year led police to Mr leveson's body. The magistrate has concluded Mr Atkins was not a person of truth, but that she was unable to make an adverse finding against him.

A pizza party in space has never been attempted before possibly because of the potential for it to turn into a big floating mess. The event was inspired by an Italian astronaut with a pizza craving.
