Following Sunday visits by U.S. secretaries of state and defense to Kyiv, the White House is seeking congressional approval to significantly increase the amount of aid it is providing Ukraine as that country's war with Russia moves into its third month.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked by a reporter on Monday just how much money the U.S. government is willing to provide Ukraine.

Nearly three and a half billion dollars worth of U.S. military and other assistance has been delivered to Ukraine since February 24 when Russia invaded its neighbor to the west.

The United States believes Kyiv can win the war against Russia if it has "the right equipment," Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said on Monday, as strikes on railway infrastructure in central Ukraine killed at least five.
