万花筒2007-12-14:Bringig web to your TV 电视与网络互联(在线收听

It's one of the Holy Grails of the technology business bringing the explosion of video on the Internet onto television sets. But so far, the growing rave hardware devices that let users watch online video in their living rooms have not taken off. Foster research estimates Apple has sold only about 400, 000 of its apple TV product which lets users watch You-tube videos and mainstream movies and TV shows purchase through i-tunes in the comfort of the couches.

10 to 11 rock appreciation and theory

That's a far cry from Apple's huge success in the music business with the i-pod. TiVo has sold fewer than 2 million of its digital video recorders that can download internet video. The company has a deal with  Internet retailer Amazon that lets users buy and rent TV shows from their TiVos. Executives from the technology and entertainment industry said the products were generally too complicated, too expensive and lack a broad selection of content. Still, internet video devices keep coming, a new start-up, Vudu, recently began selling the 399 dollar player that lets users download movies from a selection of thousands of titles on the Internet. The product has developed a method that lets users begin watching movies without delay, one of the households' most internet video devices. Still, some analysts and industry executives predicted that the companies, most likely to be successful in bringing online video to the living room are the ones that already delivered KTV to consumers, cable, satellite and telecommunications providers.
