访谈录[Interview]2007-12-11:求职访谈之普华永道(在线收听

So you're thinking of working for one of the big four accounting firms, but you don’t know how to get your foot in the door. Then here's a peek into what Price Waterhouse Coopers or PWC is looking for.
PWC is the largest of the four professional services firms, so its recruiters are busy. They hire nearly 3000 summer interns and fill close to 5000 entry level jobs nationwide each year. PWC’s core business is auditing services like tax, insurance and advisory, mainly for fortune 500 companies. And about 5000 employees work at the company's headquarters in New York. But PWC has a presence in just about every major financial capital. To keep up with the firm's growth, campus recruiting manager, Paula Jones says she and her colleagues see at least 500 resumes every recruiting season.
I would first look at their academic excellence. So, you know, you start by looking at the GPA that the person has. And then you start looking at the types of experiences that they have. Are those experiences directly related to what we do? You know, many students say to me I’ve never worked for another accounting firm, I don’t know what to put on my resume, I don’t think you're going to choose me. We're looking for people who have worked in any type of service industry. We provide services to clients, so, I would, you know, if you were a hostess or even a waitress at a restaurant, I think that means, I think that stands out, or that stands out in my eyes.
And Jones says if you make it to PWC's interview stage, it's important to stay professional.
I've had students actually come into interviews chewing gum, and that's a little distracting. I've had interviewees use profanity during interviews, and you know, it's just, I think a lot are using a lot of slang during interviews, and that can be a big turn-off.
Ohio state alumnus Adam Elkins started as an intern in the investment management group, but is now a full time member of the team.
When I go through those corrections on the return to get out to my senior associate interview one last time before I actually go to a client, coz there was, we need to get out to client on Monday.
90% of new hires come form PWC's summer internship program. It’s a ten-week hands-on experience at PWC offices around the country. And the process PWC takes you through, if they’re interested in bringing you on full time, is at least one on-campus interview, and then an invitation to a PWC branch for what's called a super day. That's a single day with 3 to 4 one on one interviews.
