1. A makeshift levee failed in Winfield, Missouri allowing the Mississippi River to inundate(泛滥) the town. Nearly 130 homes across Lincoln County have been destroyed or heavily damaged. Hundreds more can't be evaluated due to high water. The river is expected to crest in St.Louis Monday.

2. Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in Washington. Hispanics are an up-for-grabs group in key battleground states for this fall's presidential election.
 
3. Australian troops who served in Iraq were welcomed home today. The country was one of just three to send troops for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was elected partly due to his pledge to bring troops home.

4. A hundred dogs injured in last month's massive earthquake in China have a new home and new hope. A businesswoman created a special shelter to house injured animals. She has also given some new wheels to help them cope with lost or injured legs.
