I. The battle continues in the southern Iraq city of Basra. Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has traveled to the city where Iraqi forces are fighting Shiite militiamen. Al-Maliki has ordered the fighting to stop by today, saying or else the militia will face severe consequences. The fighting also has spread to Baghdad where there have been several attacks this week inside the Green Zone.

II. Delta Airlines says it expects more flight cancellations this morning. Hundreds of flights were sctratch yesterday after the airline announced it was performing inspections on a number of planes. The airline says it expects all the delays and cancellations to be resolved by this afternoon.

III. A manhunt is under way in Virginia. Police is searching for one or more people responsible for shooting at cars along Interstate64. The shooting started around midnight Wednesday, closing 20 mile stretch of highway for hours. Two people were hurt but the injuries weren’t serious.

IV. UCLA and North Carolina are now one win away from the final four. Both won their sweet 16 game last night. In the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, North Carolina faces Louisville tomorrow while UCLA plays Xavier for a chance to advance to St.Antonio.
