-I'd like to speak to someone about a fire I had last night on my farm.

-Do you have a policy with F.P.A?

-I do.That's why I'm phoning you now.

-All right,sir.could you give me the number of the policy?

-It's PA087654 B0125.

-Can you give me a moment while I look up your records on the computer.Are you Mr.Li,Li Daqing at Grand Farm?

-That's right.

-You say you've had a fire.Can you tell me what happened?

-Well,we woke up in the night to find the barn blazing.

Dialogue 2

-Did you and your family d anything to protect your property from further losses and damage?

-We managed to get the cattle out of the cowsheds.Then the fire spread.

-This policy doesn't cover the livestock.

-I realize that.

-Do you have the policy in front of you?

-Yes.

-Can you refer to Schedule One?

-Yes,yes.I'm looking at it.

-Can you confirm that the items we're referring to are the outbuildings numbered one to four?

-That's right.Only we managed to save the cowshed~number three on the schedule.

-No damage?

-Well ,it's badly scorched.

-Do you know how the fire started,Mr.Li?

-Not really,It's an open barn and with this warm dry weather,it can get very hot.It could have been internal combustion.But we've had a fire-raiser in the area.Old Zhang lost a couple of haystacks last month and that was deliberate.

-If there's any question of rson,the police will have to be nocified.

-I realize that,but there's no way I can tell.

-I'm Hu Men,from the fire insurance department of P.A Insurance.I come to see how things are here.

-Welcome.I'm Li,Li Daqing,the sole owner of the farm.And this is my wife Pan Meiling.

-Glad to meet you.I'm sorry about what happened on your farm.But would you show me around right now?

-No problem.

-Have you moved anything on the scene after the fire?

-No.We keep everything here as it was.

-Good.Did you or your family do anything to save the burning out-buildings?

-Well,my wife woke me in the early hours of Friday because of sounds of distress coming from the cowsheds.When we looked through the window we saw the barn on fire.Even as we watched the blaze was spreading to the cowsheds,we rushed downstairs with our son and daughter to see what could be done.My wife and my daughter led the dairy cattle to safety,while my son and I concentrated on putting out the fire in two of the cowsheds.Look at those burnt bodies.

-Yes,what are they?

-The two young calves were unfortunately killed before they could be helped.

Dialogue 4

-It is really a sad place.

-Look!The roof of one of the cowsheds was totally destroyed.And the walls of both buildings were badly damaged.And the barn was razed to the ground before the fire engine arrived.

-Well,I see.Did you also lose any farm equipment and machinery?

-In one of the cowsheds there was a milking machine,which cost $8,000 when it was purchased eight months ago,was turned into a useless thing.See that pile of iron?

-And do you still keep the receipts or proofs of that purchase?

-Of course.

-That's good.Is there anything else you want to show me?

-No.
