-I think it looks terrific on you,expecially on this cocktail party.

-Doctor,why is it that I'm always nervous?

-I think your condition has a lot to do with your way of work and life or habits.Now tell me Mr.Thomson.You smoke,don't you?

-Yes.I'm afraid I do,doctor.

-And rather heavily I imagine.

-Yes,I smoke about forty or fifty a day.

-Are you busy with your work?

-yes,very busy.

-Did you smoke when you are at work?

-yes,I do.

-You should do your best to stop.

-I've tried to give up smoking several times,but it's no use.What can I do

-In my opinion,you have no choice.Either you make a real feeort or there's no chance of your feeling better.You must cut it down gradually and I could prescribe some kind of tranquillizer.

-I just can't concentrate here in the flat.You see,I've got three essays to do.How can I concentrate with everyone else talking?

-Well,Peter.You could work in the university libraty.

-Yes,I could .But you know,I not only need to sit down and write,but also need to think,to be able to wander around and smoke.

-I suggest you look for a small flat of your own.

-OK.

-No,thank you.Manager Zhang.I've given up,you know.

-Oh,really?

-It's ten days ago.Haven't had one.

-You don't mind if I have on in the office?

-Well,all right.But you know,smoking is going to make you unit.

-No,it's all right.

-Why don't try and give it up?

-I ought to,but I can't.Smoking relaxes me,especially after work.

-Have you ever thought of just cutting down?You could do it gradually.

-Yes,tha is quite a good idea.
