2.Federal air authorities say one person was onboard the small twin-engine plane when it crashed into a home outside the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, slicing the house down the middle and bursting into flames. Firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze.

3.President Barack Obama has arrived in Trinidad for the 34-nation Summit of the Americas meeting. The weekend gathering of Western Hemisphere Leaders will focus on the same issues Obama has been discussing with Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon: drug violence, global warming, the recession and poverty.

4.Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist Tyler Hamilton, whose win at the Athens Games was overshadowed by a blood doping scandal, retired from cycling after testing positive for another banned substance.
