From our CNN world headquarters in Atlanta. I'm Reggie Aqui. Here is a quick look at what's happening right NOW IN THE NEWS.

A school in southwestern Germany was the site of a deadly shooting rampage earlier today. Police say 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer, a former student, opened fire at the school in Winneden. Police say he killed at least 13 people inside that school and three in other locations. He was shot and killed by police in a nearby town.

Authorities are trying to figure out the motive for a gunman here in the US, who opened fire on family members and apparent strangers. Police say Michael McLendon killed at least 11 people including the wife and daughter of an Alabama deputy before killing himself. "She was a super mom, my baby girl Corrine Grace, the sweetest thing in the world. Um, I don't even know how to comprehend what's going on."

Those crime scenes span three different communities. Other news now.
