Good morning, from the CNN Center here in Atlanta, I m Melissa Long. It s Tuesday, May 19th. Here is a look at some of the stories happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

New cars have to get better gas mileage in 3 years. Part of the plan by President Obama to improve fuel standards may not save you much money. Well, maybe it s not as much as you are hoping. As it stands, you won't spend much on gas, but yes, new cars will cost more.

The UN has had former President Bill Clinton to be a special envoy to Haiti. A senior UN official says the announcement will be made today. Clinton has traveled to Haiti several times, most recently last March.

A New Jersey school is shutting down after a student was hospitalized with swine flu, he is expected to recover, but five other kids are also being tested for the virus. The school won t be open until next Tuesday. That means the parents of more than 1, 200 children have to find childcare. Some of them don't seem to mind.

I'm actually happy that they are taking precautions. It is better that they tell us what's going on, so we can take the necessary precautions.

California police nabbed a woman in a bathing suit who led them on a fifty mile car chase. It ended when a police car performed what's called a pit maneuver. Watch, that s the pit maneuver. She was charged with DUI, evading police and hit&run. The woman said she ran from the cop because she was afraid her dog who was in the vehicle with her would be taken away. She was arrested.
