Hello there, on this Thursday, I'm Virginia Cha at the CNN center in Atlanta with a look at what's happening "NOW IN THE NEWS".

President Obama told Muslims around the world today that he wants a new beginning based on mutual respect. This morning in Egypt, the president told the crowd at Cairo University that the September 11th attacks bred fear and mistrust between Muslims and Americans. He says the cycle of suspicion has to end"

I've come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based on mutual interest and mutual respect. And one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition.

Two US journalists being held in North Korea are supposed to be on trial today. But what may be happening is shrouded and secrecy. Laura Ling and Euna Lee were arrested three months ago. They were accused of illegally entering North Korea while reporting on defectors living along the border with China. Their families held a candlelight vigil last night. They were pleading for the women's release.

What we just wanna say is that when the girls left the United States, they never intended to cross into North Korean soil, and if they did at any point we apologize. And we know that they are very very sorry and we ask that you show mercy today and take into consideration that they have families back in America that love and miss them desperately.

For one dollar, thousands of Gulf Coast hurricane victims can buy their FEMA trailers. The government is hoping to avoid mass evictions after thousands missed deadline to leave the temporary federal housing. Now President Obama has announced a what 50-million-dollar plan to offer trailer occupants housing vouchers and the chance to buy their units. About 3300 people remain in federally supplied trailers and mobile homes in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Actor David Carradine has been found dead in a Bangkok hotel. The actor's personal manager said Carradine's death is being investigated. The 72-year-old son of legendary character director John Carradinn was a prolific actor himself starring in everything from the 1970s TV series Kung Fu to Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill movies, volume one and two.

Those are the headlines at this hour, stay with CNN for more on those stories and all your other news of the day.
