1. Authorities in Massachusetts have released the 911 call and police communications that led to the arrest of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates. The sergeant who made the arrest can be heard telling dispatchers that Gates was being uncooperative and to keep the cars coming.

2. Police in New York say the driver of this minivan apparently wasn’t feeling well before driving the wrong way on a suburban parkway for about two miles. Police say that led to a head-on crash, leaving eight people dead including four young children.

3. Police in Los Angeles have arrested a 50-year-old man in their investigation of the killing of a 17-year-old girl. Officials discovered the body of Lily Burk in her car over the weekend. Police say Burk is believed to have been the victim of a botched robbery.

4. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has conditionally reinstated Michael Vick. The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback just finished serving 18 months for bankrolling dogfighting operation. Vick can participate without delay in preseason practices, and can play in the final two preseason games if he can find a team that will sign him.
