Good morning, I'm Melissa Long here at the CNN center in Atlanta. It is Tuesday; it is the 14th of July. Here's a look at some of the stories making news this morning.

You are able to watch the Thomas Fast murder trial unfold on CNN.com. Fast was accused of killing his stepmother in 2007. After six days of deliberation, the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and burglary. Prosecutors argued he killed Susan Fast because he needed money. He dismembered her body and it was found in a retention pond in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Fast's attorneys say they plan to appeal this verdict.

A third of Southwest Airlines' fleet is now being checked after a hole in one jet forced an emergency landing yesterday. The flight was on its way to Baltimore from Nashville. But it had to land in Charleston West Virginia. When a hole the size of a football appeared in the cabin, the cabin lost pressure. No one was hurt. A spokesperson for the airline says they haven't figured out what caused the hole in the jet yet.

President Obama is taking on another new challenge tonight. He will be throwing out the First Pitch, at the Major League Baseball's All-Star Game in St. Louis. Before that, the president will appear with all five living presidents in a video address highlighting extraordinary community service efforts of several Major League players. And then he will join announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver for a little play-by-play as well.

Those are the headlines, you are up to date. Do stay with CNN and CNN.com for more on these stories or other news that develops today.
