1. Continental flight 128 was forced to make an emergency landing in Miami after hitting severe turbulence during an overnight flight from Brazil to Texas. At least 26 people on board were injured, four of them seriously.

The reassurance came after Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner suggested Sunday that the administration was not ready to rule out a tax hike to lower the federal deficit.


3. Prosecutors say a grand jury has indicted Plaxico Burress on weapons charges. The New York Giants star shot himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub last winter. The indictment charged the 31-year-old football player with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment.


4. And it's a new gadget in Japan that is helping people walk. Weighing about 22 pounds, these machines pick up signals from the brain. The makers say they can help people who are injured or otherwise have trouble getting around.
