1. Four people are dead and at least ten others have been wounded in a shooting at a suburban Pittsburg health club. A local police superintendent says the gunman walked right into the room where the shootings occurred as if he knew exactly where he was going. He is among the death.

 2. Two American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee left North Korea with former president Bill Clinton and will be back in the US soon. The women have been serving stiff sentences for illegal entry and engaging in hostile act. But North Korea says its leader Kim Jong Il has given them a special pardon.

 3. The US Senate has begun debate over whether to confirm Sonia Sotomayor as the first Hispanic associate justice of the Supreme Court. Republicans have been saying she's "too biased" while Democrats are saying she's moderate. A vote could come as early as Thursday.

 4. Paula Abdul has announced she's quitting "American Idol". In July, she said she was optimistic she could negotiate a new contract. But Tuesday, she made a posting on Twitter saying "with sadness in my heart, I decided not to return."
