1.Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the  sister of President John F. Kennedy has died. Shriver was best-known for founding the Special Olympics. She was 88.

2.One person is dead and dozens others are injured as two powerful earthquakes hit Asia. A 7.6-magnitude quake hit in the Indian Ocean, prompting a tsunami warning, then in Japan a 6.5-magnitude quake hit Tokyo, that halted train service and forced two nuclear reactors to shut down for safety.

3.TV Stations say Taiwan's military has rescued about 300 people whose village was consumed by a typhoon-spawned mudslide. The storm has dumped as much as 80 inches of rain on the island before moving on to China. Authorities say the storm is responsible for 41 deaths.

4.Another town hall meeting on health care was marked by anger and boos. Maryland Senator Ben Cardin had to shout his way to a meeting Monday night. At one point four police officers had to stand in front of the stage. Karten defended the health bills, saying they would provide more insurance choices.
