1. Police have identified the child's body found in a Georgia landfill as a missing 7-year-old Florida girl. Authorities used a birthmark on Somer Thompson's leg to tentatively ID her. She went missing Monday on her way home from school.

2. Defense Secretary Robert Gates says preparation for Afghanistan's upcoming presidential run-off will be closely watched to prevent any vote fraud. The redo takes place November 7th. Gates says the US has not yet decided if it'll send more troops to Afghanistan.

3. The extortion case involving actor John Travolta has ended in mistrial in the Bahamas. Two people were accused of trying to extort 25 million dollars from Travolta following the death of his son, Jett. A new trial has been ordered.

4. The Phillies are back in the Fall Classic. The defending champs won the National League pennant last night, defeating the Dodgers in five games. The Yankees can take the American League with another win over the Angels tonight.
