[-2:-1.00]The thought of being followed made her heart beat faster.
[-2:-2.00]"You're being silly,"she told herself."No one is following you."
[-2:-3.00]To be safe, she began to walk faster, but footsteps kept up with her pace.
[-2:-4.00]She was afraid to look back and she was glad she was almost home.
[-2:-5.00]She saw the light burning and ran the rest of the way to her house.
[-2:-6.00]Once inside, she glanced out the window to see if anyone was there.
[-2:-7.00]The sidewalk was empty.
[-2:-8.00]She logged on under her screen name Good Buddy888.
[-2:-9.00]She checked her Buddy List and saw Go To666 was on.
[-2:10.00]She sent him an instant message.
[-2:11.00]Hi I'm glad you are on!I thought someone was following home today.
[-2:12.00]It was really weird!
[-2:13.00]You watch too much TV.Why would someone be following you?
[-2:14.00]Don't you live in safe neighbourhood? Of course I do.
[-2:15.00]I guess it was my imagination because I didn't see anybody when I looked out.
[-2:16.00]Uniess you gave your name out on-line.You haven't done that, have you?

[-2:21.00]We are the Canton Cats...I got to go.
[-2:22.00]My homework has to be done before my parents get home.
[-2:23.00]I don't want them to be mad at me.Bye! Catch you later.Bye!
[-2:24.00]Meanwhile GoTo666 went to the member menu
[-2:25.00]and began to search for Teresa's information.
[-2:26.00]When it came up,he highlighted it and printed it out.
[-2:27.00]He took out a pen and began to write down what he knew about Teresa so far,
[-2:28.00]including her name,birthday,address and hobbies.
[-2:29.00]He knew she lived in Canton because she had just told him.
[-2:30.00]He knew she stayed by herself until 6:30 p.m.
[-2:31.00]every afternoon until her parents came home from work.
[-2:32.00]He knew she played softball on Thursday afternoons on the school team,
[-2:33.00]and the team was named the Canton Cats...
[-2:34.00]She had told him all this in the conversations they had on-line.
[-2:35.00]He had enough information to find her now.
[-2:36.00]Teresa didn't tell her parents
[-2:37.00]about the incident on the way home from the ball park that day[-2:38.00]She didn't want them to make a scene
[-2:39.00]and stop her from walking home from the softball games.
[-2:40.00]By Thursday, when Teresa was playing her next softball game,
[-2:41.00]she had forgotten about the footsteps following her.
[-2:42.00]She was in the middle of the game when suddenly she felt someone staring at her.
[-2:43.00]It was then that the memory came back.
[-2:44.00]She glanced up from her second base position to see a man watching her closely.
[-2:45.00]He was leaning against the fence behind first base
[-2:46.00]and he smiled when she looked at him.
[-2:47.00]He didn't look scary and she quickly dismissed the fear she had felt.
[-2:48.00]After the game,Teresa noticed his smile once again as she walked past him.
[-2:49.00]He nodded and she smiled back.
[-2:50.00]He noticed her name on the back of her shirt.
[-2:51.00]He knew he had found her.
[-2:52.00]Quietly,he walked a safe distance behind her.
[-2:53.00]It was only a few blocks to Teresa's home,
[-2:54.00]and once he saw where she lived he quickly returned to the park to get his car.
[-2:55.00]Now he had to wait.
[-2:56.00]He decided to get a bite to eat until the time came to go to Teresa's house.
[-2:57.00]He drove to a fast food restaurant
[-2:58.00]and sat there until it was time to make his move.
[-2:59.00]Teresa was in her room later that evening
[-3:00.00]when she heard voices in the living room.
[-3:-1.00]"Teresa,come here,"her father called.
[-3:-2.00]He sounded upset and she couldn't imagine why.
[-3:-3.00]She went into the room to see the man from the ballpark sitting on the sofa.
[-3:-4.00]"Sit down,"her father began,"
[-3:-5.00]this man has just told us a most interesting story about you."
[-3:-6.00]Teresa moved cautiously to a chair across from the man.
[-3:-7.00]How could he tell her parents anything?
[-3:-8.00]She had never seen him before  today!
[-3:-9.00]"Do you know who I am,Teresa?"the man asked.
[-3:10.00]"No,"Teresa answered.
[-3:11.00]"I am a police officer and your on-line friend,GoTo666."
[-3:12.00]Teresa was shocked."That's impossible!GoTo666 is a kid of my age!
[-3:13.00]He's 14 and he lives in Chicago!"
[-3:14.00]The man smiled."I know I told you all that,but it wasn't true.
[-3:15.00]You see,Teresa, there are people on-line who pretend to be kids.
[-3:16.00]I was one of them.
[-3:17.00]But while others do it to find kids and hurt them,
[-3:18.00]I belong to a group of parents who do it to protect kids.
[-3:19.00]I came here to find you and to teach you how dangerous it is
[-3:20.00]to give out too much information to people on-line.
[-3:21.00]You told me enough about yourself to make it easy for me to find you.
[-3:22.00]Your name, the school you went to,
[-3:23.00]the name of your ball team and the position you played."
[-3:24.00]Teresa was shocked."You mean you don't live in Chicago?"
[-3:25.00]He laughed."No,I live in Raleigh.
[-3:26.00]It made you feel safe to think I was so far away, didn't it?"
