3. The National Weather Service has lowered the projected crest of the Red River in Fargo, North Dakota, yet another half-foot. Officials in Fargo say they are in good shape for the crest.

 

4. Tenth-seeded Saint Mary's was considered a long shot to make the Sweet 16 in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. It seems fitting that a long shot should help the Gaels reach that destination. Saint Mary's won 75 to 68 over second-seeded Villanova.
