[00:46.84]I should like to ask you how your career in the theater started."
[00:52.58]"Have you always wanted to be an actor?" "No,I'm not really.
[00:58.83]When I was a student I hope to become a teacher."
[01:03.79]"I sometimes dreams of being a famous star
[01:08.34]but I grow up in a small town in the west People there don't have big dreams.
[01:15.42]When I was young,I looked only what I saw was possible in our small town.
[01:22.18]We live far away from the big cities.We didn't even have a theater.
[01:28.74]Films were shown in the school library, there wasn't a lot to do.
[01:35.09]"When you were 18 years old you went to university in Lebanon.
[01:40.75]You studied law,why didn't you study art?"
[01:45.90]"Because my father didn't want me to study art.
[01:51.57]He said that I could never find a good job as an art student.
[01:57.03]My father wanted me to study medicine or engineering.
[02:02.49]Well,I chose to study law,It was boring to me.
[02:08.34]In my free time,I joined the students' club.
[02:13.09]I spent many many evenings there.We used to sing,dance and act on the stage."
[02:20.96]"And when did you decide to become an actor?"
[02:25.21]"When I met my wife Meryl in the students club.
[02:29.89]She made me live in university and start a career with her in the thearter."
[02:36.34]"You had a job in the theater before planning your first film.
[02:42.19]How did that come about? "In the first film I acted I was only given a small part.
[02:50.14]It was the dream machine." Keanu introduced me to the director.
[02:56.69]I was only a beginning actor and didn't have any experience.
[03:02.57]It was a small beginning but it was the beginning of my career.

[03:36.48]After high school Meryl went to study at a famous drama school.
[03:43.32]While still a student,she played roles in many plays.

[03:59.18]and won the Theater World Award for her role in a play.
[04:05.21]Meryl Streep made her first film,called Julia in 1977.

[04:17.10]she won her first Oscar as Best Actress for the film Kramer vs Kramer(1979).
[04:25.04]During the 1980s and 1990s she won many more prizes while acting in famous films

[04:43.32]Meryl Streep got married in 1978 and has a son and three daughters.
[04:51.66]Keanu Reeves was born in Lebanon in 1964.
[04:57.72]He grew up in Toronto and left high school without a degree when he was seventeen.

[05:10.75]When he was twenty years old,he acted in his first film,called Wolfboy(1984).

[06:06.81]Steven Spielberg, whose mother was a music teacher,
[06:12.45]was born in 1946 in a small town in America.
[06:18.41]He started making short films when he was still a young boy.
[06:24.05]He made his first real film when he was twelve.
[06:28.91]This was a film in which Spielberg used real actors instead of toys.
[06:35.68]He wrote the scripts for the films himself.
[06:40.25]In 1959 Spielberg won a prize for a short film which he made
[06:47.41]when he was thirteen years old.
[06:51.17]A few years later,when he was sixteen,he made a film called Firelight.
[06:58.53]When Spielberg was young,his dream was to go to the Film Academy,but he could't
[07:05.90]The reason why he could not go there was that his grades were too low.
[07:12.17]After studying English he got a small job at a film studio.
[07:18.02]Here he worked on a short film,
[07:21.89]which won him a job as the youngest film director in the world.
[07:27.82]This was the moment when Spielberg's career really took off Jaws(1975),
[07:35.37]one of his first films,was a real blockbuster.
[07:40.51]It is about a big white shark that attacks swimmers who are spending their holidays in a small village by the sea.
[07:48.95]Many people who saw the film were afraid to swim in the sea
[07:54.80]when they remembered the scenes in which people were eaten by the shark.
[08:00.57]Spielberg has made two films about creatures that come to the earth from outer space.
[08:07.63]For example,ET(1982)is about a young boy called Elliott
[08:13.79]who makes friends with a small creature from outer space
[08:18.76]and helps him to find a way to go home.
[08:23.12]The world of adults is cold.
[08:27.06]Scientists want to find ET to cut him into pieces to do research.
[08:33.93]But in the world of children and the world where ET comes from,
[08:39.78]love and friendship are the most important things in life.
[08:44.85]Jurassic Park,which Spielberg made in 1993,
[08:51.02]is about a park where a very rich man keeps different kinds of dinosaurs.
[08:57.50]When the park is hit by a storm,things start going wrong.
[09:03.24]The film becomes very exciting when the children are hunted by meat-eating dinosaurs.
[09:10.32]After these highly successful films
[09:14.58]Spielberg made several follow-ups of Jaws and Jurassic Park.
[09:20.54]His later films such as Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan
[09:26.60]are about the cruelty of war.
[09:30.25]In his war films,he has shown that love and peace will win over war in the end.
[09:37.20]Steven Spielberg is one of the top directors in the film industry
[09:43.08]and also has many fans in China.
[09:47.34]When asked about the secret of his success,
[09:51.78]Steven Spielberg said that he owes much of his success and happiness
[09:57.84]to his wife and children.
[10:01.21]He met Cate Capshaw, who is an actress,when he was working on one of his films.
[10:08.47]After that it still took seven years before they finally got married.

[10:42.14]Mr Gao, the only teacher of the Shuiquan Primary School,

[10:58.52]asks Wei Minzhi to take Mr Gao's place until he comes back.
[11:05.18]Minzhi is only a 13-year-old girl who has finishied her primary school.

[12:35.80]No!When she hears that Huike has gone to town,
[12:42.04]she becomes very worried and determines to bring Huike back safely.
[12:49.41]Minzhi wants to go to town,but she can't afford to buy a bus ticket.
[12:56.54]All the other pupils do their best to help her get onto a bus without a ticket.
[13:03.91]When Minzhi has to get off the bus,she walks till she finally reaches the town.
[13:11.56]She looks everywhere but cannot find Huike.
[13:17.44]Then she decides to ask the TV station for help.
[13:22.59]She wants them to let her appear live on the air,hoping that Huike will see her.
[13:30.84]She waits at the gate of the TV station for two days till the boss calls her.
[13:38.21]When Huike sees the crying Minzhi on television,
[13:43.80]he himself starts crying,but he is also happy to see her.
[13:50.25]At last,both Minzhi and Huike
[13:55.42]go back to their village together with the people from the TV station.
[14:01.98]Many people like this film not just because the story itself is moving,
