on board a ship, really could be an evil, that's a stem damage, maybe from a broken window, on this case, we've hit some rocks, what we need to try to do is down the flow of water, so that it's slower coming in that while we can pump or well them out. If we can do that, we will keep this ship afloat, and that will increase our chances of survival onboard the ship.

A boat is full of stuff you can use to plug a leak with. But to find it, you gotta think outside the box.

Carry the doors off! Off the cabinet that you have to.

You could also try table tops, cushions, sails, even life preservers. If it will plug the leak, grab it!

Door, door, door. If you can , start to block the bigger whole. That will help.

Using ropes, you could wedge a pole against the packet to secure the repair and stop it flowing out.

Now we stem the flow. We start pumping it out faster than it is coming in--that's gonna be a good thing because we want to stay onboard here. The reason why we want to do that is because our boat is much stronger , provides much more protection and ultimately can be seen much easier. We don't want to consider abandoning the ship unless we absolutely have to.
