2004年，妻子突然自杀给Allen带来了巨大打击。为求在音乐中藉慰伤痛，Garry Allen发行第六张专辑《Tough all over》，其中，有四首曲子是Allen为亡妻而作。该专辑可以说是Garry Allen最个人化情感的完全体现，专辑中的首支单曲“Best I ever had”虽为翻唱曲目，却经Allan沙哑嗓音的过滤，成为“情深意浓”的动人佳作。
