The Fray¹¹ 2002年在丹佛成军，两名核心成员Isaac Slade (吉他,钢琴) 和 Joe King¹² (吉他,主唱)是曾经的校友，没有想到数年后一次在唱片行的相遇成了两人后来组建乐队的契机，意气相投似乎是众多乐队组成的缘分，The Fray也不免俗。Slade和King不久便开始了两人搭档的小型磨合性质的演出，并逐渐摸索形成了自己的风格，既有U2般激扬上进气质又不乏Cunting Crows根源性的摇滚本质，随着Slade两名前队友鼓手。
