CCTV9英语新闻12月：法国印象派展览在上海博物馆关闭

Sunday marked the end of the "Barbizon Through Impressionism" exhibition at the Shanghai Museum. As the largest French Impressionism exhibition ever held in Shanghai, visitors were able to see 73 masterpieces¹ including works² by Monet and Renoir.

The exhibition began with landscapes from the Barbizon School of painters, followed by work from Impressionists, offering³ a general retrospective on 19th century French art.

It is a rare⁴ opportunity for visitors to see key pieces by Impressionists Renoir, Monet and Degas. Some bring their children along too for some early art education:

"I used to read this children’s book about famous paintings to my son, so it’s good to see the art up-close."

"I'd like to see more exhibitions and information on paintings from different periods of the 19th century."

The final day of the exhibition on Sunday saw over 10,000 visitors stream through the museum for one last look at the masterpieces.

This leg of the painting's international tour, from the Sterling⁵ and Francine Clark Art Institute, has attracted a total of 250,000 visitors over the past two months.
