Deja vu of Nazi¹ Germany is how China’s ambassador to UK has described the recent remarks and provocation² of Japanese leaders. Liu Xiaoming says Germany did similar things before the Second World War.

In TV interviews with British media, Ambassador Liu condemned³ Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s controversial visit to the Yasukuni Shrine⁴, which honors war criminals from World War Two. He called it a move to restore Japan’s past militarism and provoke regional tension. Liu warned that Japanese leaders’ attitude to Yasukuni is decisive to Japan’s future.

Liu Xiaoming urged Japan to return to the right track. And he called for joint⁵ efforts from the international community to prevent the revival⁶ of Japanese militarism, to maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
