Two days after the magnitude-6.5 quake struck Ludian town in Zhaotong city, the death toll¹ has now climbed to 410. 12 are confirmed missing and more than 2,300 were injured.

Over one million people in Ludian and neighboring counties have been affected². A quarter of a million people have been relocated to safer places. The earthquake administration has launched its highest level emergency response.

100 rescuers from the Chinese International Search and Rescue Team have entered the most heavily-hit villages. Epidemic³ prevention personnel have started to disinfect the affected areas.
