American President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Administration officials say Biden is experiencing "very mild symptoms" and will continue his duties.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden has begun taking Paxlovid. The antiviral drug is designed to reduce the severity of the disease. The virus is causing an average of 353 deaths a day in the United States.
