Before he went for office in 2003, Schwarzenegger fathered a child with a member of his household staff. French is still reeling from news that one of its leading politicians Dominique Strauss-Khan was arrested on charges of rape¹. No where was that confusion and shock more felt than at the headquarters of Strauss Khan's Socialist² political party. After a meeting of party leaders on Tuesday, the chief from the party gave a brief statement to journalists, saying she was shocked and overwhelmed that images of her colleague in handcuffs being escorted by New York police officers, appearing a ring in court. She underscored that in the French judicial³ system, cameras are not allowed in the courtroom. She emphasized that Strauss-Khan should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In response to the continued violence, both the United States and the EU have imposed sanctions against senior Syrian officials. And today we discussed additional steps that we can take to increase pressure and further isolated⁴ the Asard regime. Our message has been clear and consistent from the beginning.
