全球行动共建无毒品安全社区

　　2012年，国际禁毒日的主题是：Global Action for Healthy Communities without Drugs（全球行动共建无毒品安全社区）。尽管国际社会（international community）中，越来越多的人参与到抵制毒品的行动中，但是世界毒品问题依然对公共卫生（public health）、安全（safety）、全人类的幸福（well-being of humanity）构成巨大的威胁。联合国毒品与犯罪问题办公室（the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime; UNODC）将继续努力做好国际禁毒（international drug control）的工作。 

　　毒瘾是drug addiction或者drug dependence，“瘾君子”、吸毒者可叫作a drug addict，社会对禁毒一般采取以下措施：教育与防治（education and prevention）、开展戒毒治疗（treatments for drug dependence）、帮助吸毒者保健和康复（care and rehabilitation² for drug users）、保证社会支持（social support）。 

　　毒品种植、生产和贩运（cultivation, production and trafficking）是禁毒的要解决（tackle）的核心问题。毒品会引发一系列与之有关的犯罪和暴力事件（drug-related crime and violence）。政府、社区、民间组织等应该各尽所能，让社区远离毒品（rid the communities of drugs）。媒体可以提高人们对麻醉毒品危险（the dangers of narcotics）的认识。
